What is a Cottage Food Operation?

A CFO is essentially a home bakery; we hand-make everything in our kitchen, certified by the Monterey County Health Department.

What's the delivery/pick up process like?

California's Cottage Food law mandates all goods be delivered in-person, meaning we cannot ship via a postal system, such as USPS/Fedex.

If you choose to pick up the item yourself, the pick up point will be held at the Starbucks on South Main Street in Salinas, CA; however this is subject to change so please refer to the pick up instructions in your confirmation email.

If you choose the home delivery option at checkout, an employee at M Baked Goods will come deliver the items directly to your door. Please note that somebody has to be available at the time of delivery to accept the item. If nobody is there to accept the order, we will need to schedule a new delivery date, which may incur additional charges.

What if I need a different delivery date or time than those listed on the product page?

Please contact us via the Custom Orders or Contact page, or send us an email at hello@mbakedgoods.com, and we will do our best to accommodate your schedule.

I want in on the goodies, but I'm not from Monterey County. Can I place an order?

Possibly! According to the Cottage Food law, we can only sell outside of Monterey County if the local environmental health agency of the outside county allows it. Please contact us before placing an order so we can assess on a case-by-case basis.

Do you offer refunds?

Unfortunately, due to the perishable nature of our items, we cannot offer refunds. Once you place an order, it is your responsibility to be available to receive the item (whether that's home delivery or pick up). If you would like to cancel an order, please email us within 3 days of the scheduled delivery date (this does not apply to cakes and larger orders).

What about allergies?

All of our products are made with plant-based ingredients (including organic sugar and red food dye), and they do not contain any animal or animal-derived ingredients; however they are not suitable for those who suffer from severe allergies. Most of our products do contain GLUTEN, SOY, and/or NUTS - please see allergen information in the product page.

Please contact us for a comprehensive list of ingredients (this will also be available on each label of the product). 

We can usually make specialty items without gluten, soy, or nuts; please contact us before placing an order.
